Friendly matches

Five friendly matches are arranged during the year. These are to promote competition but most importantly friendship and fun between clubs and their members. For 2020 these will be (click underline to view selection):

East v West  (Wednesday, 20 May at Lockswood)

North v South  (Wednesday, 17 June at Banister Park)

President v Vice President for charity (Saturday, 8 August at Banister Park)

Country v Cities (Monday, 17 August at Meon Valley)

S&D Men v S&D Women (Monday, 7 September at County)

All are welcome to apply to play - whatever their level of experience. Clubs are sent posters to display and they are asked to give their members every encouragement to participate. Club secretaries submit the names wishing to be considered, and this may include a whole rinks team.

The teams are then organised by the Match Secretary (Jill Meager) and she is assisted, if places are oversubcribed, in the selection process by the President and at least one other Officer of the Association. Generally dress is whites with players' own club shirt and there is no match fee. The only exception is the representative match versus the S&D men where selection will be on merit, the dress is strictly whites and there is a match fee (£7) to cover the meal. This is traditionally played at County BC in Southampton.

Players who have played at least six times in three seasons (excluding the S&D men v S&D women) in these matches are awarded a badge - see tab on left hand side for current list.
